HMD Global earlier confirmed that its budget phone – Nokia 3 will be upgraded to Android 7.1.1 Nougat soon. The company said that the Nokia 3 will be getting the new update by the end of August. Well, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update has already started rolling out to Nokia 3. This bit of information comes from HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas. He confirmed the roll out via a tweet.Juho Sarvikas, on Thursday, took to twitter and posted about the Android 7.1.1 Nougat roll out for the Nokia 3. He wrote, “7.1.1 Update approved and will now be rolled out. We will phase it over a few days to ensure quality.” This was in reply to a July post via which he had confirmed the coming of the update to Nokia 3.

After the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, Nokia 3 is also expected to receive the Android 8 Oreo very soon. Even before Google officially released Android Oreo, HMD Global had confirmed that all Nokia Android phones, which are the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, will get the Android 8.0 Oreo software update. Nokia also claims that it will amongst the first, if not the first Android manufacturer apart from Google to update its smartphone line-up to Oreo. However, the company hasn’t confirmed the timeline of the roll out as of yet.

Nokia 3 was originally launched with Android 7.0 Nougat. The smartphone is the cheapest Nokia Android phone available in the market currently at a price tag of Rs 9,499. For a smartphone so low priced, getting the latest software update is surely a big deal. Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat already, so this probably hints that the next update that these phones will get will be the latest Android Oreo update. Meanwhile, soon after officially rolling out Android Oreo, Google confirmed that they are working with several companies, including Nokia to update some of their phones with Oreo.

Launched back in February, Nokia 3 comes with a 5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels resolution. The budget smartphone is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737 processor and is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expanded to up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the camera front, Nokia 3 comes packed with an 8-megapixel primary as well as selfie camera. It is backed by a 2630mAh which is a non-removable.
